We have just returned from yet another wonderful fiesta in Portugal. The first two weeks staying at the brand new Vila Gale Hotel in Lagos saw us meeting old and making new friends, from Holland, Belgium, Poland and even Japan. The golf was fantastic, playing Palmares, Morgardo, Alamos, Boa Vista and my beloved Penina. The clinics with Keith Robson were as always so producive. We all benefited greately from his patience, expertise and humour. Even tennis featured this year with Challenges between Winter Rose and Philip Larking. One of the highlights of the session was a cooking demonstration of Portuguese Cookery by the renowned local Chef Pedro Mendes in Praia da Luz. Followed by wine tasting and a tapas lunch. We learned some tricks of the trade and some bought his signed cookery book with wonderful, but simple recipes. We also had a very enjoyable jazz night with dinner in Alvor. The prize giving dinner was delicious and great fun. Winter Rose composing and singing a ballad which he played on the guitar.

The final week at Vilamoura stayung at the Vica Gale Ampalius Hotel was also a huge success. Playing golf at Pinhall, The Old Course and Victoria. The clinics at Pinhall saw a great improvement in everyone's game. The wine tasting in the Hotel followed by a tasty buffet dinner was much enjoyed. The visit to Quinta do Frances saw us taste many wines and eating too much tapas, especially as this was followed by a six course dinner at Portal da Serra, Gateway to the mountains restaurant. This was opened especially for us and nearly laid us out with a six course meal, it was just so delicious we had to eat it all! Two of the courses were kebabs hanging from the ceiling on giant skewers. The Thursday wine tasting and meal in RYHPIXI Portuguese Restaurant near Vilamoura was once more a special occasion, the wines the best yet and meal overlooking the valley in the glorious sunshine. This time not quite so many courses. This a great end to the winery visits. Lots of bridge was played and the last day's golf at Victoria was blessed with the hottest day yet. We had buggies provided and with good golf and company saw a supreme end to the week. In the evening the whole party paid an annual visit to Sol y Sombre a typical Portuguese restaurant. Saturday was a free day followed once again by an enjoyable prize giving dinner. Thank you so much Helena, Michael and Keith for making our holiday so special.

Dates for the year are:

Autumn Break Hanbury Manor, Hertfordshre on 11, 12, 13 October.
Price per person for two sharing a room is £314 for two nights, three day's golf and two three course dinners. I'm afraid the single supplement is expensive at Hanbury Manor and the price for the break is £474 for single occupancy. I have had to send a £200 deposit, so those of you wishing to come would you please send me a £35 deposit to help my bank balance. Also I will need a deposit of £10 for each one day game as we had one or two oopsies last year and do not have a reserve to cover this. Would those of you coming to Royal Norwich on 22 March, let me know a.s.a.p. so I can give numbers to the club. Plus any special dietary requirements and buggy needs
