Well! the wet shirts we got on our arrival at Hanbury Manor did nothing to spoil our short break. The Hotel was good, the rooms, food and golf course a joy. We were delighted to welcome two new faces, Mary and Mike Stevenson. After sorting out the car park we had a snack lunch in the Vardon bar and went on to play.
The Friday had to be shortened to nine holes due the the wind and rain, though two stalwarts played on to the end! The winners for the 4BBB were Mike Stevenson and myself with 16 points 2nd Lucy Godfrey and David Sears with 14 points on count back. 3rd Pam Masergh and John Ellis. No-one got nearest the pin!
Saturday dawned with bright sunshine and we enjoyed a beautiful day. Winners of the Waltz with 68 points were Lucy Godfrey Pam Masergh John Ellis and Mike Stevenson, 2nd with 63 points on count back were Pat Edworthy, Reg Auchterlonie and David Sears, 3rd Rosemary Digby, Mary Stevenson, and Jacky Waghorn. Nearest the pin on 11th hole was Reg Auchterlonie.
Sunday was a complete washout with torrential rain, so we had a draw for the teams and first with a nominal 74 points were Pam Masergh, Lucy Godfrey and David Robinson. 2nd with nominal 68 point were Jacky Waghorn David Sears and myself and 3rd with nominal 64 points were Vi Auchterlonie Pat Edworthy and Reg Auchterlonie.
The overall winners were Rosemary Digby and David Robinson. Once again thank you all for your support during the year. I will post venues for next year later this year.
The details for the fiesta have been changed by request and the first week will now be at Lagos with the second two weeks at Tavira. Details for the Autumn trip in the Douro Valley are still being finalised but the dates look to be from 9 to 19 October 2014 and I will let you know as soon as possible. As a result I will probably book our UK short break in the Spring.
Hasta la vista,
