After several days of rain we were very fortunate to have a dry and relatively warm day at Rookery Park for our final event of the year.
The course was in good condition, but playing very long with little or no run, and this was reflected in the scores. Nine of us play a team event with the best two of three scores to count and was won by Liz Jeary, Victoria Watson and Godfrey Camilleri with 68 points. Second was Jacky Waghorn with a personal top score of 37 and who carried David Sears and myself. In third place was Pat Edworthy, Yvette Douglas and David Robinson.
The club made us so very welcome and the meal of Roast Pork and all the trimmings, incuding apple fritters and apple crumble to follow with very exotic fruit salad for Pat and myself was voted the best meal ever.
It was great to have David Sears playing 18 holes with us again and I am glad to report that Val Garrod is now back home after eight weeks in hospital, albeit still severely hampered as her bionic knee and bionic elbow are not fully working yet. Also Johnny Johnson is back after his thyroid operation, which took eight days stay instead of the in and out in one day promised, but all is going well with him and he has managed to play 9 holes with a buggy helping him get round.
On everyone's behalf I would like to send our very best wishes to Michael Brown for his coming 80th Birthday this week. We shall all raise our glasses to you Michael.
Once again a reminder of the Fiesta from 4th to 18th February 2017 at Tavira. Please get in touch if you are interested and need more information.
Thank you all so very much for all your support during the year and making it such fun. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year when I will be sending details of the 2017 diary.
