The Accommodation

Is in twin or double bedded room in the tastefully converted Casa Rio Arade a 18th century Manor House in the main street of the small riverside village of Mexilhoeira da Carregação. It has a bar/breakfast room and a private swimming pool and sunbathing terrace. Each bedroom has its own distinct decor with private bath, televison, minibar and hairdryer. A few minutes walk brings you to the riverside and the splendid Clube Nautico do Arade where guests of Casa Rio Arade have free access and use of the facilities which include bar, restaurant (10% off meals), sauna and Turkish bath, gymnasium outdoor and indoor swimming pool, 50% off tennis court fees. There are several other bars and restaurants within easy reach of Casa Arade.

 The Golf Courses

Carvoeiro
Pestana Golf Resort probably the nearest at about 10 – 12 minutes drive time; there are two courses Vale da Pinta & Gramacho both 18 holes. Vale da Pinta with a par of 71 length of 6,152m. Gramacho has a par of 72 and a length of 6,107m. There is an excellent Clubhouse with bar and restaurant and other facilities includes driving range, putting & chipping greens, Academy, club hire & buggies.

Penina
This is about a 15 minutes drive where you will find Henry Cotton’s famous Championship Course of 18 holes with a par of 73 and a length of 6343m. The 19th hole and changing rooms and reception for golf are in the 5 star hotel. Other facilities include driving range, putting greens, chipping area, club hire, trolleys and buggies.

Alto Golf
It takes about 20 minutes to reach Alto Golf Club in the village of Alvor where you will find another Henry Cotton designed 18 hole course with a par of 72 and length of 6,125 metres. There is a new Clubhouse with bar, restaurant, changing rooms and a pro-shop. Also there is a driving range, putting green, chipping area, club hire and buggies.

Morgado de Reguengo
This new course is also about 20 minutes drive away and has 18 holes with a par of 73 and a length of 6,,300 metres set in rolling parkland. The superb clubhouse has bar and restaurant with terrace overlooking the course. Excellent changing rooms and small pro-shop. There is a driving range and practice putting & chipping areas. Clubs can be hired and also trollies and buggies.
